About Doxologies
2,000 Years of Christian Praise
Expressions of praise from Scripture and two thousand years of Christian worship.
A living archive
Doxologies explores how Christians have offered praise in Scripture, liturgy, hymns, prayers, chant, and song. It is both a place to read quietly and a reference for anyone seeking the history and context of particular words.
We aim to make that history approachable without flattening the differences between traditions or pretending uncertain evidence is certain.
How we approach the material
We distinguish original texts, translations, arrangements, performances, and images. A historic text may be in the public domain while a modern translation or musical arrangement is not. We publish text only when a stated rights basis supports that use.
Our earliest source-checked Scripture records use the public-domain World English Bible Classic. Their edition, source links, and verification provenance are shown alongside the text. Initial verification may be AI-assisted; historical claims remain open to correction and further review.

We are developing a weekly letter to explore one expression of praise at a time — its words, history, meaning, and use in worship — with special attention to the Christian year. Subscriptions will open when the full email system and privacy controls are in place.
